A New Book Published by Prof. Dr. Barış SARIKÖSE, Our department Chair
Prof. Dr. Barış SARIKÖSE, Chairman of the History Department at Karabük University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented his recently published book titled “İmrenler / In the Balkans”, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Yusuf KÜÇÜKDAĞ from KTO Karatay University, to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN.
Published by Çizgi Publishing House, the book offers a comprehensive study of Balkanda (present-day İmrenler), one of the historical settlement areas around Beyşehir. The research highlights the region's significance dating back to the Hittite period and its development following the Turkish settlement in Anatolia. By the 17th century, İmrenler had expanded into a five-neighborhood village through migration from surrounding areas. The book further explains that the region was administratively connected to the Beyşehir Province during the Seljuk period and later to the Eşrefoğulları Beylik, while today it stands as a neighborhood within the Hüyük district.
Prof. Dr. SARIKÖSE stated that the work aims to contribute to regional historical research and to document the local cultural heritage for future generations.
Dean Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN congratulated Prof. Dr. SARIKÖSE, emphasizing that the book represents a valuable resource for understanding the historical and cultural development of the region.
