Within the scope of the Wednesday Talks organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. A. Nazlı SOYKAN, faculty member of the Department of Art History, delivered a presentation titled “Architectural Works of the Greeks of Safranbolu.” The event was hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with the participation of students and academic staff.

In her presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. SOYKAN examined the architectural heritage of the Greek community in Safranbolu within its historical, social, and artistic contexts. Focusing primarily on residential buildings, as well as religious and public structures, she evaluated their place within the urban fabric and analyzed their architectural characteristics in detail. She emphasized that these structures constitute significant historical documents reflecting the multicultural past of Safranbolu.

The presentation also addressed contemporary approaches to cultural heritage preservation, highlighting the importance of documenting historic environments and implementing sustainable conservation policies. The architectural legacy of the Greek community in Safranbolu was discussed not only from an aesthetic perspective but also in terms of its contribution to collective memory and cultural continuity.

During the question-and-answer session, participants actively contributed to the discussion by raising questions concerning Safranbolu’s multicultural structure, conservation practices, and the future of local heritage. The program concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. SOYKAN by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, in recognition of her contribution.
