The Social Activity Day, organized every Wednesday by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, once again brought together academics, students, and guests for an insightful presentation this week.

This week’s event featured a presentation titled “The Role and Importance of Archaeology in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage.” The presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM, a faculty member of the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Participants had the opportunity to gain detailed insights into the preservation of cultural heritage, the contribution of archaeological studies to social awareness, and the significance of sustainable conservation practices.

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. ULUÇAM shared examples from archaeological excavations across Anatolia, emphasizing that cultural heritage is not only of historical value but also represents a vital component of social identity. He also drew attention to the scientific responsibilities of archaeology in heritage preservation, the historical development of protection policies, and contemporary approaches in the field.

Following the presentation, a Q&A session was held, during which participants posed questions and engaged in an interactive discussion on current issues related to the preservation of cultural heritage.

At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Dr. ULUÇAM for his valuable contributions.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University continues to host such events that enhance academic awareness in the field of social sciences, enrich students’ knowledge, and foster interdisciplinary engagement.
