Art History Department Career Day

The Department of Art History at Karabük University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences organized the “Art History Department Career Day” event, bringing together students and academics with Prof. Dr. Ali BORAN, faculty member of the Department of Art History, Division of Turkish and Islamic Arts, at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University.
 

 
The program, held at the Şehit Fırat Yılmaz ÇAKIROĞLU Conference Hall of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, vice deans, the Head of the Department of Art History, Prof. Dr. Anar AZİZSOY, academic staff members, and students.
 

 
The opening speech of the program was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bülent ORAL, Career Coordinator of the Department of Art History. Subsequently, Dean Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN and Head of the Department Prof. Dr. Anar AZİZSOY delivered speeches emphasizing the significance and objectives of the event.
 

 
During the conference session, Prof. Dr. Ali BORAN presented his lecture entitled “The Place of Mamluk Art in Turkish-Islamic Art.” In his presentation, Prof. Dr. BORAN discussed the architectural and ornamental characteristics of Mamluk art, its position within the tradition of Turkish-Islamic art, and its influence on subsequent artistic periods. Particular attention was given to the distinctive features of Mamluk art in terms of stone decoration, architectural form, and aesthetic understanding, supported by various historical examples.
 

 
The event attracted considerable interest from students and concluded with a question-and-answer session.
At the end of the program, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Prof. Dr. Ali BORAN by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, and the Head of the Department of Art History, Prof. Dr. Anar AZİZSOY, in recognition of his valuable contributions to the event.
