Within the scope of the Social Activity Day organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, a presentation titled “If You Believe, Will It Really Happen? A Closer Look at Implicit Theories of Intelligence” was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ecem OLÇUM from the Department of Psychology. The event was held at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with the participation of students and academic staff.

In her presentation, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ecem OLÇUM examined how individuals’ beliefs about intelligence influence learning processes, motivation, and academic achievement. Particular emphasis was placed on the psychological foundations of implicit theories of intelligence shaped within the framework of fixed and growth mindsets, and the ways in which these belief systems affect individuals’ perceptions of performance and their attitudes toward success.

The presentation also addressed recent research findings concerning the role of implicit theories of intelligence in educational settings, particularly their potential to enhance learning motivation, support individual development, and foster academic success. In this context, it was emphasized that flexible and development-oriented conceptions of intelligence can make significant contributions to individuals’ learning processes.

During the question-and-answer session, participants actively contributed to the discussion by raising questions regarding the role of intelligence beliefs in psychological development and educational contexts. The academic exchange enabled the event to conclude in a productive and interactive atmosphere.

At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Assist. Prof. Dr. Ecem OLÇUM by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, in recognition of her contribution.
