A retirement farewell ceremony was organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University in honor of Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam Uluçam, faculty member of the Department of Archaeology.
The ceremony, held in the Faculty Conference Hall, was attended by the Vice Rectors of Karabük University—Prof. Dr. Hasan SOLMAZ, Prof. Dr. Elif ÇEPNİ, and Prof. Dr. İsmail Ragıp KARAŞ—along with the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN; the Head of the Department of Art History, Prof. Dr. Anar AZİZSOY; the Head of the Department of Archaeology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin ÇELİKBAŞ; as well as academic and administrative staff and students.
The program commenced with opening remarks delivered by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN. In his address, Dean KAPANŞAHİN highlighted Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM’s academic contributions within the Faculty, emphasizing his scholarly rigor, institutional commitment, and lasting impact on the Faculty’s intellectual and institutional development.
The ceremony continued with protocol speeches by the Vice Rectors, who underscored Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM’s contributions to university administration, his sustained scholarly productivity, and his significant role in advancing Turkish higher education through his mentorship of numerous students.
Subsequently, the Head of the Department of Art History, Prof. Dr. Anar AZİZSOY, and the Head of the Department of Archaeology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin ÇELİKBAŞ, addressed the audience, reflecting on Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM’s academic expertise, his contributions to field research, and his guidance to colleagues and students.
As part of the program, Şenol AÇIKGÖZ delivered a speech on behalf of the students of the Departments of Art History and Archaeology, expressing their respect and gratitude. Members of Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM’s family also shared their reflections and sentiments.
The ceremony proceeded with a video presentation featuring selected highlights from Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM’s academic and professional career. Following the screening, Prof. Dr. Abdüsselam ULUÇAM delivered a farewell address, expressing his appreciation to his colleagues, students, and family for their support throughout his academic journey.
At the conclusion of the program, a commemorative plaque was presented by the Dean’s Office, and bouquets and gifts were offered by the department chairs. The ceremony ended with a group commemorative photograph.
