Prof. Dr. İsmail YÜCEDAĞ from the Department of Philosophy delivered a presentation titled “Methodological Foundations of Schools Aiming at Attaining Truth and Wisdom in al-Ghazālī’s Perspective of Ḥikma.” The event was held at the Şehit Fırat Yılmaz ÇAKIROĞLU Conference Hall with the participation of students and academic staff.

In his presentation, Assist. Prof. Dr. YÜCEDAĞ examined the notions of knowledge, truth, and wisdom within the intellectual framework of al-Ghazālī, one of the most influential thinkers of the Islamic philosophical and theological tradition. He discussed the relationship of these concepts with major philosophical, kalām, and mystical schools, offering a comprehensive analysis of al-Ghazālī’s epistemological orientation centered on reason, intuition, and the heart.

He also provided a comparative assessment of the methodological approaches adopted by different intellectual schools in their pursuit of truth, highlighting their broader impact on the development of Islamic thought. The program continued with an interactive Q&A session, during which participants raised questions regarding al-Ghazālī’s epistemology, methodological perspectives, and the implications of his philosophy for contemporary discussions within Islamic intellectual history.

At the conclusion of the event, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Assist. Prof. Dr. İsmail YÜCEDAĞ in recognition of his valuable contribution.
