Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Atay Briefs Prof. Dr. Muhittin Kapanşahin on His Ongoing Projects

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Atay, faculty member of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, paid a visit to Prof. Dr. Muhittin Kapanşahin to provide detailed information on his ongoing projects and other scholarly activities.

During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atay elaborated on his work to compile the complete works of Halid Ziya Uşaklıgil, one of the leading figures in Turkish prose literature, under the publication of a single publishing house. He emphasized that this effort has been conducted with the utmost academic rigor and noted that all texts are being prepared through the critical edition method.

“Mr. Dean, in this respect, our work is the first of its kind in Türkiye. Preparing the works of a literary figure such as Halid Ziya in the form of a critical edition makes the task several times more challenging. However, such studies must be undertaken. These literary figures are part of our cultural heritage, and we strive to give them the respect and recognition they deserve,” he said.

The project, hosted by Karabük University and involving over 50 academics from 33 universities, has reached its final stage. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atay presented a selection of the completed works to Prof. Dr. Kapanşahin, providing a comprehensive overview of the project’s scope and progress.

In addition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atay introduced the work entitled “Fundamentals of Literary Science,” prepared in Turkey Turkish by faculty members of Alfraganus University in Uzbekistan and intended to be used as a textbook throughout the country. The book, published under the auspices of Karabük University Press, was made possible through the initiatives of our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saidbek Boltabayev and edited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atay.

Our Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Muhittin Kapanşahin, congratulated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selçuk Atay on his ongoing work, wishing that his diligence and perseverance continue to grow.
