Presentation Titled “The History of Ancient Glass in Anatolia” Held

As part of the Social Activity Day organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, Professor Ömür Dünya ÇAKMAKLI, faculty member in the Department of Archaeology, delivered a presentation titled “The History of Ancient Glass in Anatolia.”
 

 
In her presentation, Professor Ömür Dünya ÇAKMAKLI examined the historical development of glass production in Anatolia in light of archaeological findings. Addressing the transformation of glass art from the earliest production techniques through the Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic periods, ÇAKMAKLI emphasized the significance of Anatolia as a major center for ancient glass production and trade.
 

 
The program also discussed the production techniques, functional uses, and aesthetic characteristics of ancient glass artifacts. It was emphasized that glass finds uncovered during archaeological excavations provide important insights into the daily life, commercial relations, and cultural interactions of past societies.
 

 
The event, which attracted considerable interest from participants, highlighted the scholarly value of ancient glass studies in the context of cultural heritage research. The presentation concluded following a question-and-answer session.
 

 
At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Professor Ömür Dünya ÇAKMAKLI by Vice Dean Associate Professor Murat ÇINAR in recognition of her valuable contributions.
