The Department of Geography within the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at Karabük University has achieved a significant milestone in line with its goals of quality assurance and sustainable academic development. The Undergraduate Geography Program offered by the faculty has been granted full accreditation for five years following the evaluation conducted by FEDEK.
As part of the 2025 Evaluation Period, the Undergraduate Geography Program, which was subjected to a general evaluation process for the first time by FEDEK, received accreditation valid from 8 May 2026 to 30 September 2031. This decision demonstrates that the program fulfills important standards in terms of educational quality, academic structure, student-centered approach, and continuous improvement processes.
Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, stated that the accreditation decision constitutes a great source of pride for both the faculty and the university, emphasizing that quality assurance processes are among the most essential components of institutional development in higher education.
Prof. Dr. Fatih AYDIN, Head of the Department of Geography, noted that the five-year full accreditation of the Undergraduate Geography Program represents a significant achievement certifying the department’s academic accumulation and educational quality. AYDIN also underlined that this accomplishment was made possible through the collective efforts of academic staff, administrative personnel, and students.
The accreditation of the undergraduate program within the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of Karabük University also represents an important gain for both students and graduates. Accreditation indicates that the program has been evaluated in accordance with national quality standards and that its educational processes are secured within a framework of established criteria.
Karabük University will continue to enhance its academic programs through a quality-oriented higher education approach, provide its students with educational opportunities in line with the requirements of the contemporary era, and strengthen its institutional quality culture.
