A Discussion on Human–Environment Relationship in and Around Karabük


Karabük University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted one of the prominent figures in the field of geography, Prof. Dr. h.c. İbrahim Atalay. During the event held on November 3, 2025, Prof. Dr. h.c. Atalay delivered a conference titled “Human–Environment Relationship in and Around Karabük.”


 
The event, held at the Şehit Fırat Yılmaz ÇAKIROĞLU Conference Hall, attracted great interest from academics, students, and many participants interested in environmental sciences. In his speech, Prof. Dr. h.c. Atalay discussed Karabük’s geomorphological characteristics, climate structure, and the natural factors influencing human settlements. He also emphasized key aspects to be considered for ensuring environmental sustainability in the region.


 
At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to engage with Prof. Dr. h.c. Atalay, asking questions and exchanging ideas on how the interaction between nature and humans can be evaluated at a local scale.
 


The Faculty administration stated that such scientific events play a significant role in raising regional awareness and enhancing students’ environmental consciousness.
