Within the framework of the Social Activity Day organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, a presentation titled “Forest Fires and Rehabilitation” was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevda COŞKUN from the Department of Geography. The event was held at the Faculty with the participation of students and academic staff.


In her presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevda COŞKUN examined the causes of forest fires within the framework of natural and anthropogenic factors and evaluated their short- and long-term impacts on ecosystems. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of climate change, land-use patterns, and human activities in increasing fire risk.


The presentation also addressed post-fire rehabilitation processes in the context of ecosystem recovery and sustainable environmental management. In this regard, issues such as reforestation, the support of natural regeneration processes, and disaster management strategies were discussed from a scientific perspective.


During the question-and-answer session, participants actively contributed by posing questions regarding fire prevention, response mechanisms, and rehabilitation policies. The academic exchange enabled the event to conclude in a productive and interactive atmosphere.


At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevda COŞKUN by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, in recognition of her contribution.
