International Edited Book produced by Our Department: Heroes Across Cultures

 
The international edited book titled "Heroes Across Cultures," edited by Prof. Dr. A. Serdar ÖZTÜRK, Head of the Department of Western Languages and Literatures at Karabük University, and prepared with contributions from our department faculty members and academics from other universities, has been published.

 
The book, which addresses “hero” figures from diverse cultures, geographies, and historical periods through an interdisciplinary approach, brings together African, European, and Asian literatures alongside their historical and cultural contexts. The book examines the concept of heroism from comparative perspectives in literature, history, mythology, religion, gender studies, and identity studies. The book features historical, mythological, and literary heroes from diverse cultures, including Nana Asma'u, Sarı Saltuk, Joan of Arc, Digenis Akritas, Beowulf, Hong Gildong, and Alexander the Great, examining the evolution of heroism across time and space. With contributions from international scholars, this work aims to make a significant contribution to the field of comparative literature and cultural studies.
