Seminars Delivered by Dr Luiscel Teofi E. Cabico and Dr Fitzgerald C. Kintanar from Cebu Technological University, Phili
Dr Luiscel Teofi E. Cabico and Dr Fitzgerald C. Kintanar from Cebu Technological University in the Philippines, who visited our university within the scope of the ERASMUS 171+ project carried out by the International Relations Coordination Office of Karabük University, delivered seminars jointly organised by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of Western Languages and Literatures and the International Relations Coordination Office.
In his seminar titled “Strategic Leadership from the Margins: Driving Sustainable Innovation from the Peripheries,” Dr Luiscel Teofi Cabico emphasised the importance of communication in a globalising world. He underlined key communication skills required of leaders, such as active listening, understanding interlocutors through asking questions, and requesting feedback after every interaction. Dr Cabico, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, also emphasised the communication skills necessary for problem-solving and highlighted the importance of taking responsibility.
In his seminar titled “Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) and Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL): Aligning Instruction, Assessment, and Learning Outcomes,” Dr Kintanar, Dean of the Faculty of Education, addressed the principles of the Outcomes-Based Education model. He emphasised that in the 21st century—within a world that is increasingly complex, difficult to comprehend, and anxiety-provoking—there is a growing need for educators who are resilient and open to change.
Dr. Kintanar also highlighted the importance of understanding students’ generational backgrounds in adult education, noting that instructional approaches should be adapted to meet evolving needs. In this context, he stressed that teaching methods must be reshaped in accordance with the characteristics of Generation Alpha, who are expected to begin university education in the coming years.
During their meeting with the Department of Western Languages and Literatures of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr Cabico and Dr Kintanar discussed ways to enhance academic cooperation between the two universities. At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr Cabico and Dr Kintanar were presented with gifts representing Turkish culture.
