Presentation Titled “Temporal Colonialism and Posthumanism” Held
As part of the Social Activity Day organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, a presentation titled “Temporal Colonialism and Posthumanism” was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ömer ÖZDEMİR, faculty member of the Department of Western Languages and Literatures. The event was hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with the participation of students and academic staff.

In his presentation, Dr. Ömer ÖZDEMİR addressed the transformative effects of modern perceptions of time on individuals, society, and labor processes within the framework of the concept of “temporal colonialism.” Particular emphasis was placed on the historical background of the regulation, standardization, and disciplining of time in the context of capitalist modes of production.

The presentation also examined the critiques posed by posthumanist thought against anthropocentric paradigms and discussed the impact of technology, artificial intelligence, and digitalization on the ontological position of the human being. Emphasizing the need to reconsider the concept of time through the lens of posthumanist theories, ÖZDEMİR highlighted the significance of this approach in contemporary intellectual discourse.

During the question-and-answer session, participants actively contributed to the discussion by posing questions regarding modernity, technology, and posthumanist theories. The academic discussions enabled the event to conclude in a productive and interactive atmosphere.

At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Assist. Prof. Dr. Ömer ÖZDEMİR by Prof. Dr. Muhittin KAPANŞAHİN, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Karabük University, in recognition of his contributions.

Karabük University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences continues to host such events that enhance academic awareness in the fields of social sciences and humanities and contribute to the intellectual development of students.
